*FEAST: Food-Education-Agriculture-Solutions-Together
On Saturday, February 20th, Sharon Thornberry of the Oregon Food Bank will present a day-long workshop on Community Foods Organizing at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital (525 N. Santiam Highway).
The FEAST Workshop is a way to build community, strengthen existing projects, launch new projects with community support and involvement, identify community food needs, resources and opportunities, improve community health and nutrition and support your local food and agriculture economy.
Workshop attendees will learn about local food and farming, share knowledge and concerns, identify what they want, create a plan, and begin taking action for change.
Issues to be addressed are hunger & nutrition, local agriculture and food production and youth opportunities.
The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and will include a local foods lunch for $10. Please pre-register at 541-451-6425 or by e-mail at: nkirks@samhealth.org.
Sharon Thornberry is a Community Resource Developer for the Oregon Food Bank and recipient of the 2009 Billi Odegaard Public Health Genius Award.
