Help Send Seed Ambassadors to Terra Madre

By admin
15 July 2010

The Seed Ambassadors Project is hosting a fundraising dinner to send Andrew Still and Sara Kleeger of Adaptive Seeds as delegates to Slow Foods International’s Terra Madre in Turin, Italy this fall.

During the past five years, Andrew Still and Sarah Kleeger have promoted biodiversity in locally adapted vegetables through the collection and distribution of a wide range of open pollinated seeds, both developed in our area and from similar climates in northern Europe and the Far East.  They have presented many seed swaps and no-cost workshops to share their seeds and seed saving techniques .

Andrew and Sarah founded the Seed Ambassadors Project in 2006 and are operators of Open Oak Farm where they are growing a variety staple grains and dry beans for local consumption.

Terra Madre is an international network of food producers, cooks, farmers, educators and students from 150 countries who are united by a common goal of global sustainability in food. To assist Andrew and Sarah with expenses you are invited to attend this event during which they will present a program on their work and a local chef will prepare dinner with much of the food coming from their Open Oak farm.  Seeds from the Seed Ambassadors Project will be for sale and a silent auction will be held for a variety of items related to the Project.

Cost is $50 per person for an evening of great food, live music and inspirational information.

Sarah and Andrew have promised the continuation of their unique workshops on saving and using open pollinated vegetable seeds and will include all of the findings from their exchanges at Terre Madre.

The event will be held at 1375 Olive St Eugene, OR 97401
